Protecting your privacy is important to The Metropolitan Funeral Directors Association (MFDA). We want you to understand what information we may gather and how we may share it. This Privacy Policy explains MFDA’s collection, use, retention and security of information about you.

How We Gather Information: Top
As part of providing you with products and services related to funeral directing, we may obtain information about you from the following sources:

  • Applications, forms, and other information that you provide us, whether in writing, in person, by telephone, electronically, via the Internet or by any other means. This information may include your name, address, employment information and credit card information. For information we collect about you when you visit or transact business on an MFDA web site and for information about our use of "cookies" and online tracking technologies, please see our Digital Privacy Practices.

Sharing Information Outside the MFDA: Top
The MFDA does not provide personal or proprietary business information about MFDA members, their firms, their clients, or their employees, or such information about any member of the public who visits any MFDA website to any non-MFDA affiliated companies to market their products. We may occasionally share contact information pertaining to MFDA member funeral directors with organizations offering relevant industry related products and services (For example, advertisersin the MFDA’s official newsletter MET News and the MFDA Membership Directory may receive a courtesy copies of these publications.)

In some situations, however, we are required to or we may provide all the information we gather about you to third parties outside of the MFDA without your consent, as permitted by law, such as to respond to judicial process, regulatory authorities or law.

We also may share certain information about you within the MFDA membership. (For example, all members of the MFDA receive a copy of the MFDA Membership Directory, which contains general membership information and the MET News and which may include your contact information from time to time.)

Even if you are no longer an MFDA Member or associated with one of its affiliated companies, our Privacy Policy will continue to apply to you.

Our Security Practices and Information Accuracy: Top
We also take steps to safeguard customer information. We restrict access to the personal and proprietary information of our members, their firms, their employees, their clients, members of the public who visit any MFDA website to association personnel for whom such information is relevant to their responsibilities. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal standards to protect sensitive information.

We also have internal controls to keep member information as accurate and complete as we can. If you believe that any information about you is not accurate, please let us know.

MFDA may update this policy. We will notify you about significant changes in the way we treat personal information by sending a notice to the primary email address specified in your membership account or by placing a prominent notice on our site.

The MFDA is committed to safeguarding information about customers and visitors to MFDA Web sites.

The MFDA Privacy Policy explains our collection, use, retention and security of consumer information and applies to MFDA products and services offered within the United States. Online activities of members and consumers, therefore, may be subject to both the MFDA Privacy Policy and the MFDA Digital Privacy Practices. Our Digital Privacy Practices, last updated on October 13, 2004, do not constitute a contract or create legal rights or modify or amend any agreements MFDA has with members.
