The MetFDA operates by upholding certain core values:
- To enhance the environment in which our members operate and to promote the highest standards of funeral service to the public.
- To promote accepted standards and best practices within the funeral directing profession and the embracing of its highest ethical principles.
- To promote the better understanding and appreciation on the part of the public of the functions of the funeral directing profession.
- To further advance the professional education of the members of the Association and assist in establishing and maintaining the high standards of education and training for all persons seeking to enter the profession.
