About Us
The MetFDA, a professional trade association, represents corporate and independent funeral establishments in the New York Metropolitan region including Westchester County. In addition to providing traditional association services, MetFDA also provides consumers with information on funeral planning. The MetFDA provides continuing education seminars for funeral directors, publishes a monthly newsletter and assists members with issues relating to the funeral industry.
Members of the MetFDA served as volunteers during the TWA Flight #800 crash operation, offering bereavement and administrative support. Members also helped government agencies responding to the World Trade Center disaster and the crash of American Airlines Flight #587 in the Rockaways.
MetFDA continues to be a strong advocate of the Electronic Death Registration System that will provide improved customer service for bereaved families and looks forward to continued work with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene on the implementation of the system.
