ABOUT THE MET FDA
The Met FDA, a professional trade association, represents over 200 corporate and independent funeral establishments in the New York City-metropolitan area. In addition to providing traditional association services, MFDA also provides consumers with information on funeral planning. The MFDA provides continuing education seminars for funeral directors, publishes a monthly newsletter and assists members with issues relating to the funeral industry.
Members of the MFDA served as volunteers during the TWA Flight #800 crash operation, offering bereavement and administrative support. Members also helped government agencies responding to the World Trade Center disaster and the crash of American Airlines Flight #587 in the Rockaways.
MFDA continues to be a strong advocate of the Electronic Death Registration System that will provide improved customer service for bereaved families and looks forward to continued work with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene on the implementation of the system.
